Our pastor was born and reared in our church. He learned and trained for ministry under the late Rev. Dr. Manuel L. Scott, Sr. He comes from a Christian family deeply rooted in the lifeblood of Calvary's rich history. The late Connie Haywood (his maternal grandmother) played for the Mission Chorus before he was born. Samuel and Joyce Jones (his parents) are active members in good and regular standing.

Pastor Jones is married to First Lady Dawn Jones, whom he met in college. Dawn has been an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District for nearly twenty years. To this wonderful union was born Candyce and Kirsten Jones. These two girls have been singing together since they were four and two years of age. Candyce graduated from Grinnell College (Iowa) in May of 2010 with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Biology. Kirsten is scheduled to graduate from Seattle Pacific University in 2012 with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.

Pastor Jones has a Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Occidental College and now attends the King's Seminary in Van Nuys working on his Master's of Divinity Degree. He is scheduled to graduate in 2013.

Pastor Jones recently participated in the Oxford University Experience in August, 2010 taking four classes for credit at the King's, which he will tell you was the highlight of his educational career. Since the Oxford Experience, Pastor Jones has written his first book entitled, "Healing and Deliverance by the Finger of God."
